Born(e)

BORN(E) is a performative installation initiated by choreographers Maria-Luiza Dimulescu and Beatrice Tudor. Based on 18 interviews with people between the ages of 8 and 90, the installation questions the existence of the (contemporary) human body, focusing on the complexity of the processes it goes through during its existence. “BORN(E)” brings voices, thoughts and faces to the foreground, tracing the effect of the passage of time through the accumulation of experiences. We invite you to become part of this subjective map of human experiences.

Beatrice Oneț

She graduated from UNATC Bucharest and works primarily within Romania’s independent cultural sector. She is a member of two cultural associations: Unfold Motion (Timișoara) and Delazero (Bucharest). She works as a performer, choreographer, and cultural manager, and regularly teaches contemporary dance classes for a wide range of age groups and social backgrounds.

Since 2017, she has been part of the Goldenboi.Screendance creative group, together with director Corina Andrian and choreographer Mariana Gavriciuc, producing and creating dance films that have received awards and been presented at specialized festivals in Romania and abroad.

Over the past five years, her artistic practice has focused on real-time composition performances, street performances, and cultural interventions in public space, particularly in small and medium-sized communities. These include the projects DansNomad, Connect Contemporary Dance Festival, Cadre&Forme Summer School, Omul Verde Festival in Richiș, Obor Contemporan, and the “Fluid Layers” performance series.

Scholarships and residencies she has received include: “Energie! Creation Scholarship”, “Acasă la Hundorf” artistic residency in Hundorf, and “Foreign Bodies” / 4Culture Association - artistic residency in Reykjavik.

She is the creator of the performances: “r.e.g.e.n.e.r.a.r.e.”, “My Invisible Noisy Inside”, “Câte un om de iubit”, “Ibuse”, “Corp de citit | în vis” - a work-in-progress performance, and “Miresele Prințului Șarmant & Povestea unei iluzii” - a fashion design performance. She is also co-creator of the performative installation BORN(E), the video-performance installation “Corp impresionabil”, the performance “Vulnus - The Quality of Being Easily Hurt”, and “Connecting Pleasures”.

In 2022, she received an award from the National Dance Center Bucharest for her contribution to the development of contemporary dance, and in 2023 her project “Dans Nomad” was nominated at the Radio România Cultural Awards Gala.

Maria-Luiza Dimulescu

Maria-Luiza Dimulescu holds a BA from the Faculty of Theatre at UNATC Bucharest, specializing in Performing Arts (Choreography), and a master’s degree in Choreographic Creation from the same university. In 2023, she received an award from the National Dance Center Bucharest for her contribution to contemporary dance.

In 2024, together with Beatrice Tudor, she initiated the cultural project “Preocupat/Prea-ocupat”, which resulted in the performative installation “BORN(E)”.

Since 2021, she has collaborated with the Delazero Association. In 2021, together with Beatrice Tudor, she initiated the cultural project “Ultima Picătură”, and in 2024 she was part of the team of the 3rd edition of the CONNECT Contemporary Dance Festival. She is currently developing the cultural project “ASSIGNED” together with Camelia Neagoe.

Over the past two years, she has collaborated as a performer in three Tangaj Collective productions: “BLOT - Body Line of Thought” (Simona Deaconescu & Vanessa Goodman), “Ramanenjana” (Simona Deaconescu & Gaby Saranouffi), and “Isolation in a Series of Liminal States” (a performative installation by Simona Deaconescu). She has also collaborated with various artistic institutions, including the National Dance Center, LINOTIP, Odeon Theatre, the Bucharest Metropolitan Circus, Excelsior Theatre, and Apropo Theatre.

As a choreographer, she created the performances “Dar de ce să tac?”, “Bad Feminist”, “Ultima Picătură”, and “Gen Roz” (directed by Luiza Mihăilescu), as well as the dance films “Breath” (awarded at ZED, Girona en Moviment, Danzattak, and Moving Body festivals), “Call of Pink” (awarded at BIDFF and Ziel Spring), “Depaysement”, and “Disconnected”.
